Brazilian beef exports totaled 1.705 million tonnes in the first half of 2026, confirming the country as the world's leading supplier of the product. The performance reflects a combination of recovered Chinese demand and broader diversification toward Middle East and Southeast Asian markets.
Brazil has held the global leadership in beef exports for more than a decade, supported by a large commercial herd and an industrial structure with strong vertical integration. The first half of 2026 confirms that position in an international scenario marked by reshuffling trade flows.
The behavior of Chinese demand, the historical main destination, is the most determining variable for the final result of the year.
According to data released by the Brazilian Association of Frigorifics, beef shipments closed the first half at 1.705 million tonnes, with moderate growth compared to the same period of the previous year.
China continued to lead the ranking of destinations, followed by Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Chile. In parallel, a rebound in shipments to secondary markets such as the Philippines and Indonesia was observed.
The shipped volume ratifies the Brazilian industry's capacity to respond to global demand and reinforces the country's weight in international price formation. For Argentine, Uruguayan and Paraguayan producers, remaining competitive requires advancing in sanitary agreements and in differentiation by quality and traceability.
On the domestic front, the sustained export cycle brings the challenge of ensuring herd replenishment and avoiding inflationary pressure on beef prices in the Brazilian home market.
